redbetLIVE at Dragonara: Event 3 Day 2

DPlayers are arriving, ready to open their chip bags to start play in just under ten minutes.

Lvl 13 – 800/1600/100 – 24 players – av stack 80k

Charles Bishop

Charles Bishop

Off to a banging start as we lost Charles Bishop. He started the day as the short stack and he took the punt and could not get there. Frustrating, but he’s on holiday and having a jolly time, so we’re pretty sure he’s not crying too hard.

Another man down 20 minutes in as Yosi Dolev played the game and lost…

Sucks to bust so early in Day2, unlucky guys! See you at the next one.

Davide Fazio is our next victim. He started Day2 with just over 20 bigs and is now heading home. The short stacks are getting destroyed early on here!

Lvl 2 – 1k/2k/200 – 20 players – av stack 95.5k

Harsh times for Aleks Radev as he started Day 2 with the second largest stack. He had an expensive misread situation that cost him 70k of his stack when he read the flop for all spades and put his opponent to it with As in his hand.
The flop actually contained one heart and Radev nearly celebrated the spade on the turn before realising his flush was a phantom.
With a destroyed stack he eventually flopped 2 pair but was outrun by an opponent’s turned straight. Harsh turnaround for Radev, at least his qualified by grinding up his bankroll from the redbet online freerolls.
€500 gtd today for €0 on redbet online, no entry criteria other than joining the site.

We’ve just lost Pablo Lizio (as in, from the tournament, not down the back of the sofa).

Lvl 15 – 1200/2400/200 – 19 players – av stack 100k

Down to 17 as we lose Jack Barrett and Vince Calenti.

Fabio Berti

Matthew Vella eliminated in 15th place, leaving two tables of 7.
This tournament will have a nine-handed final table.

Lvl 17 – 2k/4k/400 – 12 players – av stack 160k

Manuel Lopes

Manuel Lopes

We have just lost Giorgio De Cillis and Manuel Lopes (the Play2Care representative).
Lopes tried a creative shove all in against two preflop  limpers who both called him off with AJ. Manuel’s 56 could not find purchase against the twin opponents and he seemed a bit annoyed about it when we caught up with him in the smoking area.

Lvl 18 – 3k/6k/500 – 11 players – av stack 174k

We lost Oles Smyrnov towards the end of lvl 17. He’d been playing short stack ninja for a while, but eventually got collared and finished in 12th place.

2 eliminations to go until the final table and 4 to the money.

Down to 10 after Kristoff Van Der Stichel was eliminated in 11th place.

BREAK – 30 mins

Players elected to have their 30 min dinner break early after Tal Revivo was eliminated in 10th place.

Tal Revivo

The players discussed a chop at 4 handed and looked at the ICM numbers, but could not reach a deal and agreed to play on.
Shortly after, Paul Chopin was eliminated in 4th place taking away €1080.

Lv23 10k/20k/2k – 2 players – av stack 825k

We lost local legend Andrea Stellato at the beginning of this level. Unlucky Stellato! Hope you run better.

Lvl 5 100/200/25 – 15/18 players

Relaxed atmosphere here as players still arrive to play. Couple of bustouts, always unfortunate, but with 1 re-entry allowed per flight, no-one is excluded from having another pop at the prize!

Lvl 6 – 150/300/25 – 15/18 playersellie-biessek

Couple  of big pots with Grosvenor Casino Pro Ellie Biessek showing the boys what happens if you underestimate the sweet looking chick in the floaty white dress.
You wanna play poker, boys? Bring your big girls’ game, seriously!

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/25 – 15/18 players

 Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 – 13/18 players

Heard on a cardroom walkabout from Vince Calenti:

“I can’t fold bottom pair.”

Vince Calenti

Vince Calenti

We’ve included a picture of Vince so you can hunt him down on your local poker endeavors.

Lvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 13/19 players

Last level for registration/re-entry.

We’ve just had a moment of childlike wonder with Grosvenor Pro Andy Hills who ordered a cup of tea and was thrilled to be served a teapot with a secret cup underneath.

He could barely conceal his glee as he exclaimed “We don’t have things like this in the North of England”.
We think that’s unlikely as nobody knows their cups of tea like a Yorkshireman.

Andy Hills

Andy Hills

We’re glad that a teapot could bring so much joy, we hope Andy wins and can buy himself an impressive collection of teapots.

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 – 13/20 players

Into the last two levels of Day 1C and the total raised for Play2Care charity is €360 after 36/60 players opted to pay the extra €10 to get a 10% stack boost  and donate to specific individuals in need of assistance with issues affecting comfort and quality of life with chronic conditions.

Lvl 12 – 600/1200/100 – 9/20 players

redbetLIVE at Dragonara: Event 3 Day 1B

Lvl 1 – 25/50 – 5 players

Clock starts with 5 players and a couple knocking about considering their options.
Some people don’t like playing short handed, and we understand that. Anyone got any good advice for improving one’s short handed game? We know we need it!

Our photographer will arrive around 5pm, so you will have some lovely new photos then, in the meantime, we’ll provide as many faces as we can from our live event archives.

Lvl 2 – 50/100 – 9/9 players

redbetLIVE MaltaNot much to report from the first half hour of play. These games always have the feel of homegames on a lazy afternoon, so, honestly, we’re just putting our feet up and chatting. Not sorry for it, the atmosphere is superb here; come and hang with us, even if you don’t want to play poker!

Lvl 3 – 75/100 – 12/12 players

The field is growing! These redbetLIVE games at Dragonara were never meant to be mind blowing fields and prizes, they were meant to be a place to play chilled out poker and potentially win a few beans. Fair to say they are just that, we think!
We’re relaxing into the afternoon, with a summer breeze and a deepstack structure, what more is needed on a Saturday afternoon?

BREAK  -15 mins

 Lvl 4 – 100/200 – 13/13 players

Players still wandering in with plenty of time to register!

There is another player here to register, but he got embroiled in a heated discussion about the infinite multiverses and quantum physics; standard.

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 12/13 players

We lost satellite qualifier Maurizo Autellitano in the last level, but we’re sure he can bink a seat for the next event as we know he’s a satellite shark!
There are a lot of pots like this happening:

Dimitar Ivanov raises to 450 from two seats right of of the button (hijack) and is 3bet to 1450 by Grably Yair from the cutoff (one seat to right of button).redbetLIVE Malta
Ivanov calls, flop is 4d 4s 7s and both players check. The turn is Ah and Ivanov checks letting Yair make a 2k bet which he then calls.
The 5h river is checked by both players and Yair takes the pot with AK versus Ivanov’s A10.

Lvl 6 – 150/300/25 – 12/13 players

There are players lurking about here. There’s a lot of poker in Malta this weekend, and it feels sort of like a festival spread over multiple casinos. Players are wandering between looking for value! Poker is definitely alive and well…?

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50 – 16/19 players

Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 – 17/20 players

Now 1hr and 15 mins till reg closes.
We play until level 12 today, but registration/re-entry closes at the end of the break after lvl 9.
Av stack is 37.5k and that means that everyone gets to play a few pots and get involved. There’s plenty of chat and some fun, multiway pots.

If you can’t make it for flight 1b then see you at 19:30 for flight 1c? (late reg till 00:30)

Lvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 17/21 players

Last level for entry for flight 1b.

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 – 13/22 players

redbetLIVE MaltaAfter a blitzkrieg of exits following a couple of short-stacks not managing to get there, we’re down to 13 players first level after close of registration.
Did you miss it?
Nineteen hundred and thirty hours the poker boat sails again. Hop on it.

Lvl 11 – 500/1000/100 – 10/22

Approaching the final hurdle now with just under an hour of play left in the day.
registrations have starting coming in for flight 1c so it’s looking like a good night!

Lvl 12 – 600/1200/100 – 9/22 players

Last level of the flight!

Players will play 4 more hands until the close of flight 1b.

Joseph Smith127000
Lee Barto120000
Pablo Lizio91200
Matthew Vella79600

Grably Yair46600
Charles Bishop18000

Play resumes tomorrow, Sunday 30th July, at 1pm.

redbetLIVE at Dragonara: Event 3 Day 1A

Short delay getting fired up for Day1A… we have 4 registered and start with 5…

Anyone smell a wikkle overlay happening on this event?

Clock starts 19:55

Lvl 1 25/50 – 5 players

An exclusive group of players have kicked this event off.
One player did suggest an immediate five way chop… hmmm… redbetLIVE like to think we’re pretty generous to players, but winning €2k without playing a hand? We think not!

 Lvl 2 50/100 – 13 players

They are creeping in now!
Since the action is quiet because the stacks are deep and the blinds are small, we’ll take the opportunity to answer a question we were asked.

Q: “Why do you make us stay to bag up our chips? Can’t you just do it for us? Are you so lazy?”

redbetLIVE at DragonaraA: We could do it for you, and we are a bit lazy, but that’s not the reason we ask players to stay to bag up. It’s a security measure, because if you don’t sign off those chips in the bag, then if you don’t think it’s right when you return for the next day of play, then there is nothing that can be done about it.
If you leave before you bag up, you have to trust us 100%, and we think it’s better for everybody if players and staff agree the amount.
We promise it’s not just to keep you hanging around!

Lvl 3 75/150 – 12/13 players

First man down!
Not an issue, late reg /re-entry is open till 00:30.
We’ll play till the end of level 12 which will take us through until approx 3am.

We just spotted an interesting hand between Giorgio De Cillis and Lars Jonas Larsson.
De Cillis opened from the SB after it folded to him and Larsson 3bet, which De Cillis quickly called, creating a 40 big blind pot before the flop even fell!
De Cillis led out on 10d3h2c for 3200 and Larsson snapped it.
The turn was 2h and both players checked to the 6s river. De Cillis bet 7.5k and it did not take long for Larsson to raise him, making the bet 18.5k.

Giorgio De Cillis

Giorgio De Cillis

De Cillis looked pretty narked, he clearly had a difficult decision, but he made the right one as he called the bet and Larsson insta-mucked. De Cillis is an experienced player and raked in the huge pot without so much as a raise of his eyebrow; “I’d already decided I was going to do something stupid,” said Larsson after the hand.

De Cillis qualified for the event via yesterday’s live satellite at Dragonara; there have bee multiple satellites for this event, with online starting at just €5. Keep your eyes peeled for the next ones and win your redbetLIVE at Dragonara seat for buttons!

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 4 100/200 – 14/16 players

Couple of bustouts, but overall, fairly cautious play.

Do you think it’s easier or harder to make a day 2 when there are fewer runners?

Lvl 5 100/200/25 – 14/16

A hand exploded between Maviej Rachwaniec and Marco Klajderic as Rachwaniec opened from the cutoff to 600 and the button called. Klajderic 3bet from the small blind, folding out the big blind, but Rachwaniec 4bet to 6k.

Maviej Rachwaniec

Maviej Rachwaniec

The button took the fold option  and Klajderic looked pained. He had a total of 12k at the start of the hand and he seemed to feel that he could not call Rachwaniec, only pass or put the rest in.
After a moment, he opted to ship it, and Rachwaniec called. Klajderic flipped JdJc and did not appear surprised when Rachwaniec showed the table his pocket Aces.

The flop was pretty grim for Klajderic, as it was all hearts and Rachwaniec held Ah. The turn made the board look slightly hopeful as Qh3h10hKd gave Klajderic a open ended straight draw.
Kc clubs on the river sent Klajderic to the rail, and Rachwaniec looked pretty happy to be scooping in a sexy sized pot.

Lvl 6 – 150/300/25 – 14/16 players

They say “don’t play a big hand right before the break”, advice which Manuel Lopes, Igino Xuereb and Lars Jonas Larsson chose to ignore as they got into it in the last hand before the break.

Larsson opened UTG for 1k on Xuereb’s big blind, Lopes called from the button and Xuereb came along.

The flop was 9d Kh 2h and all players checked to the turn which showed its face as Jh. Xuereb checked, Larsson checked and Lopes popped 2k out there.
Xuereb quickly raised to 4.5k and Larsson called; Lopes mucked.

Lars Jonas Larsson

Lars Jonas Larsson

The river looked suspiciously like 7d and Xuereb checked, Larsson checked behind.
Xuereb flipped Qc 10c for a King high straight. “Chop!” exclaimed Larsson, turning the Qh… he was lying, it wasn’t a chop, Larsson mucked his other card and the players went about the business of smoking and punting on slots in the break.

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50 – 14/16 players

Maviej Rachwaniec is nicking pots all over the shop, teasing a few chips out of Lee Barto after he raised pre, Barto called and then was bullied out of the pot by Rachwaniec’s c-bet.

He can’t have it everytime… can he?

Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 – 14/18 players

Lee Barto

Lee Barto

Players still trickling in with just under 1 hr of late reg for this flight to go!

Lvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 12/18 players

Last level for late reg on Day 1A.

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 – 12/18 players

Davide Fazio nipped a nice pot after he limped pre and Manuel Lopes raised from the hijack and was called by the cutoff player and Giorgio De Cillis on the button.
Fazio then raised to 8k and only De Cillis felt fruity enough to call him.
Fazio c-bet 14.5k on the 2c 3d 5d flop and De Cillis instantly folded.

Lvl 11 – 500/1000/100 – 11/18 players

Lvl 12 600/1200/100 – 11/18 players

Going into the last level of the flight, players are playing a little carefully, trying to make sure they get to Day 2, more important as there is the scent of overlay in the air…

The clock has now stopped with 10 mins left of level 12 and the players will play 4 remaining hands.

Igino Xuereb

Igino Xuereb

Igino Xuereb was cruelly eliminated in the last hand before clock stop when he was involved in a 3 way all in against 1010 and J10 while he held AcKc.
The run out gave the shortest stack trip Jacks and the tens scooped the rest.

At close of play 9/18 players still had chips:

Manuel Lopes120400
Giorgio De Cillis109900
Paul Chopin78100
Maciej Rachwaniec64100
Kristoff Van Der Stichel 56500
Roy Zimmer52700

Jadu Barrett32200
Tal Revivo30900

Play resumes from level 13 on Sunday at 1pm.
