redbetLIVE at Dragonara: Event #5 Day 1C

Lvl 1 – 25/50 – 5/5 players

Gentle start to the evening and we started a little late at 8pm.

Lvl 2 – 50/100 – 11/11 players

_d3_7750As predicted, the field is growing.
We are really excited to say that the guaranteed prizepool has now been exceeded and everybody is player for €10980. We know the Malta locals have plenty of choice in great events at great venues, so we’re thrilled by the support, and wish everyone the best of luck wherever you are playing tonight!

Lvl 3 – 75/150 – 13/13 players

Listening to the sound of the sea at night whilst you play poker… what more could we want from our Saturday night?

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 4 – 100/200 – 15/16 players

We do find it a bit odd when players offer us advice on ways we could make more money as the operator!
Yes, we could have ten handed tables, yes, we could allow reg up to the start of day two, yes, we could take an extra % out of the prize pool… BUT WE DON’T WANNA!

redbetLIVE is a company run by poker players, and we like more elbow room, we like knowing how many opponents we’ll face as soon as we sit down for Day 2 of a comp and we really hate paying loads of money to the house (the rake on this tourney is 11.1% and we already think that’s 1.1% too high, but we do have to pay these dealers, because they are really selfish and they won’t work for free)._d3_7767

We believe that if you make a tournament good for players, it benefits your poker brand and your business in the long run.
We prefer passion to profit; and we’re not going to apologise for it!!

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 17/20 players

Beloved local player, Jackie “PokerMamma” Cachia is not having a great night.
What we love most about PokerMamma is that instead of moaning about a bad beat, she came over and said that she had “made a big mistake”.

PokerMamma doing her "WTF?" face.

PokerMamma doing her “WTF?” face.

All the best players criticise their own play before anyone else’s. Gotta love that PokerMamma vibe!

Lvl 6 – 150/300/25 – 17/20 players

Now the antes have kicked in, the pots are getting bigger, but there is still a long way to go.
There is late registration until 12:30 tonight and players will play until end of lvl 12, which, due to the slightly delayed start, will be approximately 3am.

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50 – 15/22 players

Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 – 16/22 players

It’s getting late on in the last entry day, and players are concentrating.
One gentleman has played all three entry days, respect to him! Fingers crossed for him that he can crack into Day 2 with his third bullet.

Lvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 16/23

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl  10 – 400/800/100 -15/23

In the 15 minute break the conversation covered football, poker, politics and Maltese public transport.
Gotta love the diverse nature of poker players!_d3_7760

Lvl 11 – 500/1000/100 – 11/23 players

The numbers are dropping, and we have had some crazy last minute bust-out action in the last level on the last two entry days… so anything could happen at this point. That’s poker! Mela.

Lvl 12 – 600/1200/100 – 10/23 players

As we go into the last level of the day, we’ve had a request to put all ten players onto one table. We don’t like to deny requests, but we did on this occasion.
The reasons are:

1) it’s a 9 handed tourney
2) both other starting days were also in the same position, table 2 finished Day 1B heads up for the last hand!
3) we know not everyone likes short-handed poker, but some people do, so it’s not fair to change stuff up at the last minute
4) short handed poker practice is good thing. Definitely helps for when you get to those final tables and have the trophy within your grasp!

We want to see all ten players go through. GL everyone!

8 people made it through from Day 1C:

Alexander Golten201500
Kurris Lake150000

redbetLIVE at Dragonara: Event #5 Day 1B

Lvl 1 – 25/50 – 5 players

The afternoon flight always starts with only a few players, it’s traditionally our smallest flight, which gives players a better chance of qualifying for day 2, but obviously there are less chips in play for them to take through.
What do you think? Would have rather have a better chance of making day 2 with a smaller stack?

Lvl 2 – 50/100 – 9/9 playersredbet poker table phone

A couple more players have crept in.
We love afternoons at Dragonara with the roof off and the windows open. It’s a beautiful day and the sun in bouncing of the sea and putting us in a very good mood!
Lat registration on Day 1B is open until the end of level 9 so plenty of time to swing by and get involved.

Lvl 3 – 75/100 – 11/11 players

The crew is growing here.
We are experiencing some technological issues with the blogging function, but these are not affecting the players at the live tables, and with the atmosphere and the sun, we’re finding it hard too get too stressed.
Actually, we might just have a beer; when in doubt, drink a pint of Cisk, that’s our motto!

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 4 100/200 – 13/14  playersd75a6794

One elimination and one re-entry.
The gentleman who has already re-entered today also played yesterday. We asked him why he wanted to re-enter and he said because he is enjoying the game and he feels like he can have a laugh and a gamble with the big stack and the gentle structure.
We’re thrilled to hear it! Poker can be fun in the moment, and not a means to an prizewinning end… although we all like to win that prize, right?

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 13/14 players

Joe Hall, the epic and beloved redbetLIVE photographer has just arrived, so brace yourselves for some great photos.
He’s brought his mum along to the casino to see if she can find a love for poker… you never know! It’s never too late in life to start playing the greatest card game in the world!

Lvl 6 – 150/300/25 – 14/15 players

Great to see a few joining us late in the day. It’s our fave thinng about a deep stack structure, players are not at a disadvantage if they wander in late!

d75a6719BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50 – 15/17 players

A good few players have qualified through our various satellite routes for event number 5. This month there have been Last Man Standing side bets, online satellites and a live satellite which created FIVE seats!
We’re very chilled about transfer and using the tickets when you want, it’s the benefit of being a smaller brand. If you win a ticket and you want to give it/sell it to a friend, or save it for another game, we’re super cool with that, just communicate early with us to tell us what you want and we’ll sort it out, redbetLIVE style!

Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 – 14/17 players

Lvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 13/19  players

Playing level: 7. Reading age: also 7.

Playing level: 7.
Reading age: also 7.

Just had an interesting discussion with British player, Phil Pearson about levelling and bluff catching… well, we say interesting, but we’re at work and he’s a customer… so…

To be fair, we’ve known Phil a long time, we don’t mock all our customers so mercilessly… unless they like it, and then we don’t even charge for the service. Can’t say fairer than that!

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 – 12/19 players

Entries for Day 1B are now closed, and Day 1C starts in a little over an hour at 19:30.
There are 90 mins of play left on Day 1B.

Lvl 11 – 500/1000/100 – 12/19 players

The players have tightened the reigns with the end of Day 1 in sight. Makes sense; we’ve all heard the stories of people making Day 2 with 10 bigs and then going on to win the tourney!
Players are already registering for Day 1C which starts in half an hour. _d3_7644

Lvl 12 – 600/1200/100 – 11/19 players

The final hurdle!
Play will stop with 10 mins on the clock and players will play 3/4/5 last hands before the bagging happens.

After some insane levels of bustout carnage in the last five hands of play, we see five players make it through to Day 2 from Day 1B:

Valter Caiazzo212900
Antonio Chinnici129200
Igino Xisereb118000
Salvatore Ritrovano104300

redbetLIVE at Dragonara: Event #5 Day 1A

Lvl 1 – 25/50 – 17/17 players

Boom! Off we go on event 5 of 2017 at Dragonara.
€200 buyin and 10k gtd!

We’ve had a slight dispute already. An Italian gentleman was slightly confused as to what the 2nd chance chip actually meant, and it was changed for him.
When he then understood, he wanted to change it back.
We let him.
There were two reasons for this:
1) redbet is a FUN brand. We want players to get value for money and have a laugh.
2) none of the 2nd lot of 15k chips had been bet or used for play in any way.

Rules are meant to make things better, not worse!

Lvl 2 – 50/100 – 19/19 players

"Did I order this??"

“Did I order this??”

We’re off to a flying start and more folk are waiting to register! We think this is going to be a good event!
Plenty of chance to join us, with registration until midnight tonight and then two more Day 1s tomorrow. GAME ON, MALTA!

Lvl 3 – 75/150 – 23/24 players

Early bustout for one young man. Not the end of the world, there is ONE re-entry per flight available, and late entry available on each day one for nine 30 min levels.
Day one plays until level 12, and we will wrap up around 02:45 tonight.

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 4 – 100/200 – 26/27 playersThat's the spirit!

Pretty chilled here as usual. Malta resident Irish Pro player Daragh Davey has just rocked up, but don’t be too scared, he says he hasn’t been to sleep for 24 hours… so he’s probably softer than usual! Being Dad to a young baby can be HARD work. GL Daragh!

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 25/28 players

The photographer has taken so many photographs of burgers that he had to stop and have one. It’s a tough life on the live poker media circuit, but somebody has to do it!
Poker rooms are seriously improved by snacks and drinks… although now we have ketchup on our keyboard and that might not be too easy to explain to the redbet IT team!

Lvl 6 – 150/300/25 – 26/29 players

Cash game has been running here for a good few hours because Dragonara have invited a group of Danish players to get involved in the redbet tourney and play some cash poker.
d75a6783Still time for late reg, but if cash poker is more your vibe, then make your way down and join in!

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50 – 25/30 players

A few late entries and a couple of re-entries and the pool slowly grows.

We’ve been asked why we don’t allow unlimited entries on this tournament, why have we restricted to one per flight?

The answer is that we wanted to style the tournament in a format that did not advantage people with hugely deep pockets!
We think €200 is at the top end of what recreational players would want to buy into directly, and that they may be put off if they think that other people can have ten buyins to their one buyin!

In initial discussions, this was planned to be a one entry max per flight, but then we realised this might be harsh to people who  can only make one flight. In the end we decided to strike a happy medium… we hope!

Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 – 21/30 playersd75a6811

Players maximising the deep starting stack of 30k and the gentle, incremental levels… and why not? Bingo is a great game and we love it, but we don’t need it at the poker tables!

Lvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 18/30 players

We’re down to two tables as we go into the last level of entry today. No point rushing about to get here now: Day 1B starts tomorrow at 1pm and you can sit down with 600 big blinds instead!
Think we need to increase the starting stack…? Nah, probably not!

 Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 – 16/31 players

Cheeky last minute entry in the break and we launch into the last three levels of play of the day with 16 remaining.

Lvl 11 – 500/1000/100 – 14/31 players

These players are not hanging on desperately to sneak into Day2 with a few chips! It’s do or die with this group of Day 1 players.

d75a6800Lvl 12 – 600/1200/100 – 12/31 players

Play will stop with ten minutes to go on the clock of level 12 and there will be 3/4/5 final hands, depending on which card a random player picks.

Nine players made it through to Day 2 from Day 1A:

Leo Fric198600

Fish Party Trawler Jackpot Promotion

Join Our Fishy Family: €45k Community Jackpot Potential

Fish Party is a fun game with a maximum of three players and a super-fast structure; each one takes only five minutes to play!

pile-of-pound-coinsThis game format means that inexperienced players have a better chance to win against experienced players.
Pure luck plays a greater role in fast games, because there is quite simply less time for skill to be a factor!

Fish Party is also a jackpot game, meaning that there are cash prizes for every winner, but occasionally a player will randomly win a huge jackpot.

We’ve always had a community feel at redbet, and we want to bring that vibe over to Fish Party, so during October, if somebody wins a jackpot EVERYBODY WINS SOMETHING!

If you have played a Fish Party tournament within the previous 24 hours before the jackpot drops, you will be awarded an equal portion of the promotional Trawler Jackpot.
There will be three potential jackpots throughout the month, €10k, €10k and €20k, and these will be equally shared between all players who qualify.

If no Fish Party jackpot is won in October, the Trawler Jackpots will not be released, but there will be a consolation €10k, flip-format freeroll on Nov 3rd.
Every single player who played just one Fish Party tournament in October will be entered with 100 chips, and every time you WIN a Fish Party in October, you will receive an extra 100 chips!big-fish
You will be automatically registered, and due to the format, you don’t even have to be available on the day of the freeroll, as each hand is all-in blind.

A Fish Party a day keeps the boredom away; play now from just €1!

Terms & Conditions

  2. We reserve the right to cancel or amend any instance of any network tournament at any time.
  3. No alternative prizes will be offered.
  4. You may not create more than one account with your poker room. If you do, you will forfeit all prizes and you risk closure of all your accounts.

  6. We reserve the right to withdraw the promotion at any time.
  7. The €10,000 Consolation Flip Freeroll will only play if no Trawler Jackpot is hit during the promotion period.
  8. Eligible players for the €10,000 Consolation Flip Freeroll will be pre-registered to the tournament by the network.
  9. In a Flip Tournament, every player is automatically set all-in on every hand, until the winner is decided.

redbetLIVE at Dragonara: Event #4 Day 2

39 players are returning in total for Day 2 for event 4.
With 80 entries, the prizepool is €14400 and the prize breakdown will be publish shortly.

Day 2 will start in 30 minutes.

Lvl 13 – 800/1600/100 – 39 players

Clock starts at 13:02 with 39 stacks… a few players running a bit late, maybe celebrating the football result last night?

Early bath for Micheal Thomas who started the day with 32k and got 99 in preflop against AK. Thomas couldn’t win the flip and he’s our first casualty of the day.

Two eliminations in one hand as Santina Spedalieri and Martin Vltavsky got it all in with 88 and 1010 respecttively against Patrick Sundstrom’s AK.
Ace flop, never got any better for either pair. We’re down to 36 players.

Sascha's Annals Of Time Face

Sascha’s Annals Of Time Face

As the tables broke, a lonely shout of “lost one” was heard across the field of noise… that ‘one’ was Sascha Manns; maybe no-one will ever know the bustout hand, it will disappear into the annals of time like a wisp of smoke.

Lvl 14 – 1000/2000/200 – 35 players – av stack 68k

Online qualifier Micheal Edge found QQ with 25 bigs and got it in preflop.
Sadly, he got it in preflop against other online qualifier, Reza Haack’s AA and the poker Gods weren’t in the mood to slip a Queen out there.

Edge is eliminated in 35th place, but since he qualified for €5 in an online satty with 85% of the prizepool being generated by house overlay, he didn’t seem bothered. He’s off to find a cash game.

We lose Event #2 final table player Konrad Abela in 34th place.
Domenico Tortomasi exits in 33rd place.
Teemu Hietala bites the dust in 32nd place.

Teemu Hietala

Teemu Hietala

Anna Colley leaves us in 31st place.
Andrea Stellato gone in 30th place.
Leo Osterberg eliminated in 29th place.

BREAK – 15min

Lvl 15 – 1500/3000/300 – 27 players – av stack  88.8k

We lost Kinno Keinanen in the last hand before the break and return to level 15 on three tables of nine.

Marcin Trela was eliminated in 27th place after 3bet jamming 17bigs from the big blind over Andre Grech’s middle position open.
Grech called the bet and flipped As6s against Trela’s KdJd. Three four on the flop left Trela with 6 outs, none of which fancied coming to the party.

Shortly after redbet online qualifier Oskar Johannesson was eliminated, but we’re sure he wasn’t bothered because he did not even turn up to play Day2. We like to think it’s a chilled tournament, but you probably need to at least turn up if you want to win!

Sorting a dispute over a raise

Sorting a dispute over a raise

Markus Larsson joined the eliminations list in 25th place leaving 8 players on each of the three remaining tables.

Michael Jenson joins a growing queue of Scandis that are busting this tourney. He found AK and got it all in preflop against the very hung-over Miraj Patel.
Patel had pocket nines and the runout held him good.

Christoph Kohen busted in 23rd place.

Lvl 16 – 1500/3000/300 – 22 players – av stack 109k

Cyril Sievet leaves the field in 22nd place.
Guilio Spampinato eliminated in 21st place.
Gregor Abymar exits the stage in 20th place having fought well to stay alive for so long as he started the day with only 12500 chips; unlucky!
Kevin Lee down in 19th place.

Lvl 21 – 6k/12k/1k – 12 players – av stack 200k

Lots of short stack allins and calls, but no eliminations as the poker deities seem to be smiling on the underdogs here tonight!

Miraj Patel hits the rail in 12th place after openinng from the button with K5s and then calling the 3bet show that had him covered from Andre Grech.
Grech had A9 and it held.

Lvl 22 – 8k/16k/1k – 10 players

Mark Adams was eliminated in 11th place and Ina Pavlova was unfortunately the bubble.

Much discussion of rules in the break with local rulings master Mr Stellato. Would anyone else pay for a subscription service to see Stellato arguing rulings on live stream with world class TDs? We would, and we’re pretty sure we know who’d win!

reedbetLIVE Dragonara Malta golf poker chipsWe’ve just spotted a super lol hand with local player Sammy Pulliainen who was left with a short stack after some carnage with AK v AA.
he managed to get his short stack in with A3 against A3.
“Don’t you know it’s a split?” said Sammy’s opponent as the dealer scooped the pot.
Sammy wiggled his 3c as the flop brought two clubs.
The wiggling intensified as the turn was a third club.
Everybody lolled as the river was the fourth club and Sammy took the whole pot.

His opponent wasn’t laughing, “That’s how I run.” he said, ruefully.

Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 – 21/22 players

It’s been busy level for re-entries, players are feeling the gambling urge!

An unfortunate exit for one of Scandi friends late in Lvl 8 after he went heads up to the flop and saw 10d9h7c with 9d8d in his hand. His opponent bet 5k and a call was intended, but an extra 5k fell off his stack, making the action a raise.

The Draw That Never Was

The Draw That Never Was

The opponent then shoved all in for 40k and our Scandi friend called, seemingly from frustration. His mid pair and draw could not outrun a flopped set of sevens and it was Scandi rail time.

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 15/17 players

Another registration and a re-entry happened in level 4.
There’s some creative play because everyone’s playing deepstacked. Not t0o many all-in show downs, except for the guy who had to re-enter after running JJ into KK on a low flop.

He seemed happy enough to make the re-entry, well, as happy as anyone ever is in that position.

Not much movement in the last couple of levels as the structure allows for slow and careful play and doesn’t require a lot of gambling to take place on Day1.

Lvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 14/20 players

Two tables of seven as we go into the last level for late registration on Day 1B.

Very relaxed environment with a friendly vibe!

Break – 15mins

Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 – 14/20 players

Registration on this flight is now closed but flight 1C starts in 30 minutes, there have been 53 entries so far for this tournament, so it’s looking good for exceeding the €10k gtd prize pool.

This man will steal your hoody.

This man will steal your hoody.

Malta local suspicious character Phil Pearson has already declared his intention to steal a hoody, so no one leave theirs unattended.

Lvl 2 – 50/100 – 21 players

We’re up to 3 tables here as this tournament is run nine-handed for players’ comfort.
There is a decent bit of chip splashing going on as players take advantage of the extra bit of fun provided by the double-chance format.
You can go all in and lose once and still not be eliminated from the tournament!

There are a couple of British players in the mix here tonight; who’s watching the football? Malta or England to win?

Lvl 3 – 75/150 – 23 players

The field is growing and the beats are happening as we’ve had one re-entry already!

The menus are out here because obviously we need a snack whilst we’re playing poker, drinking beer and watching football.

It’s a hard life, but someone has to do it.

Another elimination as we go into level 5.
Late reg available until the end of level 9 which is approximately midnight.
