redbetLIVE at Dragonara, Malta, July 2018: Day 2

31 players return today to compete for a total prizepool of €15660.
The prize breakdown will be published shortly, as the players are arriving and opening their bags.

Lvl 13 – 800/1600/100 – 31 remaining – average stack 84k

Clock started and the 31 redbettors get to it!
Well, not quite 31, as three players are running a bit late. We suspect Saturday Night Shenanigans got the better of them!

Prize breakdowns announced, with all the final table players getting paid.

Flavia Guedes eliminated in 31st place.

John Sammut

John Sammut

John Sammut eliminated in 30th place, with redbetLIVE regular, Igino Xuereb being the benefactor of his chips.

Marek Jarub eliminated in 29th place.

George McIntosh eliminated in 28th place after Aicseli Hosig 3-bet him light with KhJh preflop, was called by McIntosh with AK and found the magic backdoor to flopping nut flushes.
After they hand, Hosig said, “yeah, I was betting you light, but I did have KK and QQ the last two times I did it,” it did not seem as if McIntosh was too fascinated by the story.

Lvl 14 – 1000/2000/200 – 26 players remaining – av stack 100k

Ferdi Duman eliminated in 27th place.

Dario Pace Talliana eliminated in 26th place.

Antoine DeGiorgio  eliminated in 25th place.

Lvl 15 – 1200/2400/200 – 24 players remaining – av stack 108k

Tunes are playing and it’s Scorchio. We love a bit of Sunday afternoon poker.

These sneaky incremental levels are what slows the structure down. In theory, this allows more skilled players an advantage, but if one’s strategy is nit the f*** up and hang on for a monster, it allows more hands to be dealt to bring the monster.
We personally love a deep structure, but what are your thoughts? More for gamble or more for playing complex street poker?

Simon Forster eliminated in 24th place.

Patrick Gulldek eliminated in 23rd place when he got all in pre-flop with A8 v A9. Everybody loves a chopped pot? Gulldeck would have, but a bag of rags made sure the nine kicker booted him railward.

Mikael Thomas eliminated in 22nd place.

C. G. Lavillaugouet eliminated in 21st place.

Sulaiman Sesay eliminated in 20th place.

Gaetano Caruana  eliminated in 19th place.

Lvl 16 – 1500/3000/300 – 18 players – av stack 145k

Neville Grech eliminated in 19th place.
Riccardi Rossi eliminated in 18th place.

Madness on table 1 as Colley and Xuereb get themselves involved in a big pot. Colley had 40% equity preflop against Xuereb’s short stack, but couldn’t realise it as he turned a full boat to dead her.

She was left with 6 bigs and got it in next hand against Berman’s KK.
Xuereb decided not to rest, and got the rest of his newly doubled stack in against Berman with QQ.

When the flop delivered  a Q for Xuereb, who’s turning boats for fun today, he was left with a massive stack and Anna Colley has been eliminated in 16th place.

As a reminder to all, there are package satellites to Battle of Malta and The Malta Poker Festival playing on redbet online poker later today, with over €1.5milly gtd in prizepools between 25th October and 6th November this  year. Satties start at 1c and you can register for online poker room membership HERE.

Lvl 17 -2000/4000/400 – 15 players – av stack 174k

Ina Pavlova eliminated in 15th place.

Davide Tundo eliminated in 14th place.

Konrad Abela got his short stack in preflop versus Berman for a race which he could not win and was eliminated in 13th place.

Zoltan Kavai

Zoltan Kavai

Zoltan Kavai found a spot to get his remaining chips in the middle preflop with A10 versus Berman’s pocket 66  and couldn’t find his half of the equity in that particular hand to be eliminated in 12th place.

Lvl 18 – 2500/5000/500 – 11 players – av stack 225k

Marc Schembri eliminated in 11th place after working a short stack like a beast for a long time.

Players now play hand for hand as we approach the dinner break and the bubble boy position looms.

David Lappin eliminated in 10th place after he lost chunks getting unlucky with KK getting outflopped by Liverhall’s pocket 10s after they got it all in preflop.

Players have now reached the final table and the money.
They have gone on a thirty minute dinner break.

DINNER BREAK – 30mins

christa-liverhallPlay begins for the monies, with all players fairly close behind eachother in chips.

The side event is just starting, €30 buyin with 20k stack, €1000 gtd prizepool.

Christa Liverhall eliminated in 9th place for €313.

Lvl 20 – 4000/8000/500 – 8 players – av stack 326k

Xuereb was getting short but managed to double against Hosia after getting it in with a flush draw on the flop versus Hosia’s top pair and finding the card he needed on the river. Play continues 8 handed.

Clint Sammut has apparently been “on 14 big blinds for 17 hours”. At least your decisions are easier?

Mr Squiggle, also known locally as Salvatore, eliminated in 8th place for €470.

Manuel Lopez eliminated in 7th place for €626.

Lvl 21 – 5k/10k/1k – 6 players – average stack 435k

They play onwards, 40 blinds deep.

Xuereb doubles again, this time through Victor Feu as his pocket eights held true against Feu’s pocket deuces when they got the money in pre flop.

The side event is getting rowdy as the play on the final table gets more intense.

Victor Feu eliminated in 6th place for €940.

Lvl 22 – 6k/12k/1k – 5 players – av stack 522k

Xuereb got his money in with two pair on a K610 flop against Hosia’s pocket Aces, and he was looking pretty solid until the river when an Ace materialised to give Hosia a set and eliminated Xuereb in 5th place for €1253.

 Lvl 23 – 8k/16k/2k – 4 players – av stack 652k

The remaining players are all experienced and lots of small pots are being won and lost without showdowns.

The battle continues 4 handed on the final table, with nobody giving an inch.
They did discuss reducing the length of the blind levels, but the current short stack, Hosia, declined the suggestion. Well, wouldn’t you??

Lvl 24 – 10k/20k/2k – 4 players – Av stack 652k

Akseli Hosia eliminated in 4th place for €1566 after getting brutalised by a miserable run of cards and then being forced to call off Sammut’s button shove with A6os and 15 bigs.
Sammut had AK and the runout went his way. Three remain.

The players are electing to take a 15 min break slightly ahead of schedule before continuing.

BREAK -15 mins

 Lvl 25 – 15k/30k/3k –  3 players – av stack 870k

Battle continues with a 25 big blind average, although Berman is currently chip lead.

After losing a race with 77 v Larsson’s AQ all in pre flop, he has been attacked from all sides, getting involved in pots with dirty runouts.
Mark Berman eliminated in 3rd place for €1566

Larsson and Sammut had a short break before agreeing to chop the remaining prizepool 50/50 and play out for the trophy.

After 7 hands, Sammut emerged the victor and raised the trophy with a song.

This has been one of our best attended events at Dragonara, it’s been great!

_d3_8095Level 3 – 75/150 – 16/16 players

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 4 – 100/200 – 20/20 players

A few re-entered the evening flight after busting late in the day on 1b.
Saturday night always seems to be the flight where players take the game most seriously.

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 20/22 players

With a total of 81 entries so far to this month’s event, we are looking for one more runner to break the record!

Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 – 17/26 players

It’s official! With 86 entries, the official record has been broken for this little local tournament at Dragonara, and the total prize pool is €15660!

Lvl 11 – 500/1000/100 – 14/26 player

One hour to go on flight 1B.
23 players have made it through, how many will be back tomorrow from the remaining players?

Jonas Larrsson just won a massive pot, 300k+ after getting it in with the best set against another set and top two. Poker is sick, two eliminations in one hand, Larrsson with chunks, and one guy trying to bribe the TD for entry.
We love low stakes poker!!

Lvl 12 – 600/1200/100 – 10/26 players

8 players made it through from Day 1C, everyone will return tomorrow, Sunday 22nd at 2pm.

Lvl 1 – 25/50 – 9 players

Players up bright and early for felt based shennanigans.
We missed the exact cards in the air moment because we were sunbathing. Yeah, who ya gonna call?

Lvl 2 – 50/100 – 10/10 players

The sun is shining and the players keep strolling in.

_d3_7798Lvl 3 – 75/150 – 14/14 players

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 4 – 100/200 – 16/16 players

The chat has moved onto sports betting and whether or not it’s a skill game. We’re not sure, but you can check out the bonuses available to sports fans on redbet.
How’s that for a smooth move brand shout-out, huh?

Lvl 6 – 150/300/25 – 16/19 players

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50 – 16/20 players

Another level, another re-entry. This has blown our tiny minds here to be honest, we have now 59 total entries and 3 levels of entry left in this afternoon’s flight, with another flight this evening!
This was always intended to be a small, local event for local players to enjoy some serious deepstack poker without having to sell a kidney; we are overwhelmed at the support, and wish all players the best of luck!

 Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 – 15/21 players

The competition heats up as such deep stacks and slow structures mean that everyone has plenty of chips to play with. 5bets pre anyone?

Lvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 14/21 players

We are now entering the final level of entry for flight 1B.
We play until the end of Level 12 today, and registration for flight 1C opens in about 20 minutes.

BREAK – 15 mins_d3_8077-edit

Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 – 13/22 players

22 the closing number on flight 1B, with a last minute entry.
What do you reckon? Enter at the last minute or enter at the start of flight 1C?
Option A followed by option B if option A goes down the wrong way?

Lvl 11 – 500/1000/100 – 8/22 players

Active last level for the players of Day 1B as they smelled the new flight starting and did not like the look of a short stack.

Lvl 12 – 600/1200/100 – 7/22 players

Going into the last level of play there are just 7 soldiers remaining. Will they all survive? Closing chipcounts will be posted here as soon as we have them.

5 players made it through to day 2 from day 1B and will come back tomorrow, Sunday 22nd at 2pm to finish the tournament.
