redbetLIVE at Dragonara: Event #5 Day 1C

Lvl 1 – 25/50 – 5/5 players

Gentle start to the evening and we started a little late at 8pm.

Lvl 2 – 50/100 – 11/11 players

_d3_7750As predicted, the field is growing.
We are really excited to say that the guaranteed prizepool has now been exceeded and everybody is player for €10980. We know the Malta locals have plenty of choice in great events at great venues, so we’re thrilled by the support, and wish everyone the best of luck wherever you are playing tonight!

Lvl 3 – 75/150 – 13/13 players

Listening to the sound of the sea at night whilst you play poker… what more could we want from our Saturday night?

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 4 – 100/200 – 15/16 players

We do find it a bit odd when players offer us advice on ways we could make more money as the operator!
Yes, we could have ten handed tables, yes, we could allow reg up to the start of day two, yes, we could take an extra % out of the prize pool… BUT WE DON’T WANNA!

redbetLIVE is a company run by poker players, and we like more elbow room, we like knowing how many opponents we’ll face as soon as we sit down for Day 2 of a comp and we really hate paying loads of money to the house (the rake on this tourney is 11.1% and we already think that’s 1.1% too high, but we do have to pay these dealers, because they are really selfish and they won’t work for free)._d3_7767

We believe that if you make a tournament good for players, it benefits your poker brand and your business in the long run.
We prefer passion to profit; and we’re not going to apologise for it!!

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 17/20 players

Beloved local player, Jackie “PokerMamma” Cachia is not having a great night.
What we love most about PokerMamma is that instead of moaning about a bad beat, she came over and said that she had “made a big mistake”.

PokerMamma doing her "WTF?" face.

PokerMamma doing her “WTF?” face.

All the best players criticise their own play before anyone else’s. Gotta love that PokerMamma vibe!

Lvl 6 – 150/300/25 – 17/20 players

Now the antes have kicked in, the pots are getting bigger, but there is still a long way to go.
There is late registration until 12:30 tonight and players will play until end of lvl 12, which, due to the slightly delayed start, will be approximately 3am.

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50 – 15/22 players

Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 – 16/22 players

It’s getting late on in the last entry day, and players are concentrating.
One gentleman has played all three entry days, respect to him! Fingers crossed for him that he can crack into Day 2 with his third bullet.

Lvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 16/23

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl  10 – 400/800/100 -15/23

In the 15 minute break the conversation covered football, poker, politics and Maltese public transport.
Gotta love the diverse nature of poker players!_d3_7760

Lvl 11 – 500/1000/100 – 11/23 players

The numbers are dropping, and we have had some crazy last minute bust-out action in the last level on the last two entry days… so anything could happen at this point. That’s poker! Mela.

Lvl 12 – 600/1200/100 – 10/23 players

As we go into the last level of the day, we’ve had a request to put all ten players onto one table. We don’t like to deny requests, but we did on this occasion.
The reasons are:

1) it’s a 9 handed tourney
2) both other starting days were also in the same position, table 2 finished Day 1B heads up for the last hand!
3) we know not everyone likes short-handed poker, but some people do, so it’s not fair to change stuff up at the last minute
4) short handed poker practice is good thing. Definitely helps for when you get to those final tables and have the trophy within your grasp!

We want to see all ten players go through. GL everyone!

8 people made it through from Day 1C:
