redbetLIVE at Dragonara, Malta: Event #6 Day 1A

The beginning

It’s early, so a few of those who arrived on time are posing for close-ups with the redbetLIVE photographer, Joe Hall.
He’s just got some new camera equipment, so he’s keep to try it out. We expect some quality art here tonight!

We will be starting a little late here, as we are waiting for five players to take a seat before dealing the first hand.

Clock starts 20:08

Lvl 1 – 25/50 – 6 players

d75a6809Clock started a little bit late. Not an issue, everyone’s got a beer and 600 blinds. Game on.

Lvl 2 – 50/100 – 8/9 players

After an unfortunate incident with a pair of Kings and unavoidable destiny, there has been an early elimination and a prompt re-entry.

The great thing about having €10 last man standing side bets on the local tournaments is that some people that wouldn’t normally play a €200 buyin game get to have a shot.
We’re pretty happy that the structure allows less experienced players to settle in and play a few hands without having to worry about it turning into bingo too early.

Lvl 3 – 75/150 – 9/10 players_00a8171

The player that re-entered has busted. He did want to re-enter again, but this tournament is limited to one re-entry per flight.
It’s coming up for nine fifteen here and late registration will be open until 1am tonight due to the slightly late start time.

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 4 – 100/200 – 11/13 players

Up to two tables here as a few more players wander in from who knows where.
Late reg is open for a while yet, and with a 30k starting stack, (33k if you take the €10 charity add on in aid of Play2Care) the so sitting down down would be a minimum of 15o big blinds.

Players are behaving themselves with a chilled atmosphere, watched over by tournament director Jeanelle Brincat. If something been organised round here, it’s been done by Jeanelle.

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 11/14 players

Friday night poker.
You can choose to sit tight in this tournament or punt off a tonne of blinds early on. It’s your buyin, do what you want.

Lvl 6 -150/300/25 – 12/15 players

Nice friendly vibe as we go into level six, after which there will be a break and then three more levels of registration.

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50 – 12/15 players

Bit of six handed practice for the players now as we go into the second half of day 1A. Six levels of play to go, or until we play down to three players.

Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 – 12/16 players_00a8242

Two 30 min levels remaining for registration here at midnight due to the 30 mins delay in start.
With a 30k starting stack you will still sit down with 60 big blinds if you buyin now.

Lvl 9 300/600/50 – 12/16 players

Last level of registration has begun.

This structure can encourage some people to play a bit splashy. Bit pot poker is alive!

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 12/17 players

_00a8272Entry for flight 1A is now closed and day 1B starts tomorrow and 13:00.
There are now 90 minutes of play remaining until the players with chips left bag up for the day.

Lvl 11 – 500/1000/100 – 12/17 players

Play is steady even though the banter is loud.
Table 2 are having way too much fun doing really bad accents. It’s like a budget episode of League Of Gentlemen in here right now.

Lvl 12 – 600/1200/100 – 11/17 players

Bustout immediately before the beginning of lvl 12.
The atmosphere is a little bit boozy and full of energy. Both tables busy with chatter and bets.

8 players made it through to Day2 from Day 1A and play starts at 1pm on Sunday afternoon.

Roland Boothby is the current chipleader, but there are two more Day 1 flights tomorrow.chipcounts
