Lvl 1 – 25/50 – 5/5 players
Clock started at 14:01 with five players. The afternoon flight is always slow to start, but we’ve never had less than two tables in an afternoon flight.
The weather is beautiful today, so we can see why people want to squeeze in a bit of sun before the come along!
Lvl 2 50/100 – 7/7 players
The players are creeping in.
Some computer issues with the media today, but it’s fine, laptop thrown in the sea and we’re going to live on a deserted island where technology cannot find us.
Lvl 3 – 75/150 – 8/8 players
TD Paul has just had to make what he described as a difficult ruling.
A player stated 700 when the intent was 7000, facing a 1200 bet when the big blind was 100. Paul decreed the raise would be minimum, as the amount stated was not enough for a raise.
We 100% support the ruling here. Paul finds it difficult, because he has great respect for the player in question.
It shows that a good TD would rule against his own mother if it was the right rule, and sometimes it is hard to swallow.
BREAK – 15 mins
Lvl 4 – 100/200 – 9/9 players
One unfortunate bustout, after all the money went in on the turn after Igino hit trips with Q8 on 6828.
Dario Pace Taliana came from behind with QQ, but the river gifted him the case Queen for a better boat and he scooped a massive pot.
Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 9/11 players
Gross hand here between Shane Dempsey and Rudolf Gun after Dempsey opened UTG and it passed to Gun on the button.
Gun raised to 2k and Dario Pace Taliana called from the small blind; Dempsey also called.
The flop was J high, all diamonds, and it checked to Gun who bet 3k.
Taliana passed and Dempsey raised to 7.5k. Gun asked how much Dempsey was playing and when the answer came 20k, Gun raised all in.
Dempsey snapped it and turned over KJ with the Kd.
Gun flipped AJ with the Ace of diamonds… “I’m in bad shape here” said Dempsey… no sh*t, dood!
90% equity wasn’t enough for Gun as the turn showed itself as the King of clubs and the dealer couldn’t find a cheeky diamond on the river.
Gun took it well, a mere moment of poker pain flickering across his face before he regained composure.
Gun had Dempsey well covered, so we continue 9 handed.
