*+60 seconds

Lvl 2 – 50/100 – 9/9 players

Some of the afternoon bustouts have decided to rebullet the evening flight, meaning they have gone from having 50 bigs to having 300 bigs. Remember to adjust folks!

Lvl 3 – 75/150 – 14/15 players

Grown to two tables here with 1 re-entry. Two players are having a minor argument about some personal beef. TD Paul stepped in and told them be quiet or get out.
It’s gone quiet.

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 4 – 100/200- 14/15 players

redbetlive-1071Play is coming to a close on the other flight, and there may be some crossover players as there are some last minute eliminations happening.

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 13/17 players

Play always seems a little bit more aggressive on a Saturday night. There are a few local sharks in this field tonight, so fireworks are to be expected!

Lvl 6 – 150/300/50 – 13/17 players

Almost 1/2 way through Day 1C.

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50 – 13/17 playersredbetlive-1147

Three more levels of entry in the final flight for the February event. The gtd prizepool was breached earlier in the afternoon.

Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 – 12/17 players

It’s always about this time that poker play gets a bit more intense as people realise they have an hour to bust and re-enter or build a fighting stack to grind the last three levels.

Day 2 entry is not available in this tournament.

The photographer, Joe Hall, has left for the day now, but the link to the gallery with all the photos from Day 1A, B and C is available  at https://josephhallphotography.pixieset.com/g/redbetlive/

redbetlive Malta Dragonara Clint Sammut Feb2019 Day1CLvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 13/19 players

Couple of last minute entries as we go into the last level for entry today. Some of the players still here were here at the start of the afternoon flight as well, so they must be feeling a bit tired now. GL guys!

Lvl 11 – 9/19 players

Explosion of exits in level 10. Just under an hour of play left for today.

redbetLIVE at Dragonara, Malta, Feb 2019: Day1B

We’re here waiting for the gentle afternoon flight to begin. 1 player is registered, 1 dealer sits patiently, 1 Tournament Director tries to look busy, 1 redbet rep attacks the valet for a massive coffee.
Just a normal redbet afternoon at Dragonara, Malta.

Play will start in 20 mins(ish)._d3_0854

14:18 – Clock delayed as we wait for 5 players. There are three registered and two knocking about.

Lvl 1 – 25/50 – 5/5 players

Clock started at 14:41  with 5 players. Registration is open till the end of level 9, until around 8pm.

Lvl 2 – 50/100 – 6/6 players

Very quiet and peaceful game of afternoon poker happening here. We have chilled music on the stereo and if you’re looking for a relaxing way to spend your Saturday, then this may be the place.

Lvl 3 – 75/150 – 6/6 players

We redbetlive malta dragonara stellato feb2019have learned this level that Andrea Stellato does not want “disco music” in a poker room. Seems reasonable, how do you feel about thrash metal?

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 4 – 100/200 – 7/8 players

One re-entry has happened, and a new player joined us as the evening begins to fall on this delightful Mediterranean island.

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 9/10 players

It was pretty chilled here, there appears to be some sort of dispute happening, but TD Paul Kelly is dealing with it._d3_0838
Equally, it could just be a conversation. It’s hard to tell with Italians sometimes!

Lvl 6 – 150/300/25 – 9/10 players

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50 – 8/10 players

We lost the re-entered player, but he may hang around for this evening’s flight as it starts at 19:30.
It’s dinner time here, so we’re tucking into a chicken burger from the restaurant… for quality control purposes, obviously!

Lvl 8 250/500/50 – 7/11 players

redbetlive-0970The evening quietly rolls on as the few players from the afternoon hang in for Day2 to come.
Evening flight registration is open already with two players registered.

Lvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 7/12 players

This is the last level of registration for the afternoon flight. Players will play until the end of level 12 today.
If they reduce to 3 players then the Day 2 clock will be rolled back to match the stopping point of Day 1B.

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 – 6/12 players

With a couple of eliminations in the last level we have just six players remaining in the afternoon flight. Can they all hang on for 90 mins?

Lvl 11 – 500/1000/100 – 6/12 players

The 1B players are being good as gold, quietly grinding through the levels till the end.redbetlive jackie cachia poker mamma malta dragonara feb2019 day1c
Jackie “Poker Mamma” Cachia, the PLON ambassador is on the table, so maybe she’s keeping them all in check.

Lvl 12 – 600/1200 – 6/12 players

These guys have worked hard for this day 2. Short handed play is very taxing when you are more used to full 9/10 handed tables.
They are on the home stretch now.

Four players made it through from Day 1B after a mad flurry in the last five hands where two players were eliminated back to back!

Play starts again tomorrow, Sunday 10th February at 2pm. Please arrive five minutes early to open your chip bag!

UCOP: WarmUp, Mini and Passport

We’re getting off to a banging micro start to 2019!

The UCOP (Universal Championship of Online Poker) is back, and as usual, redbet is making sure the micro guys have a chance to compete with the deep wallets and sharks.

UCOP WarmUp redbetWe’ve started UCOP early with a “WarmUp” series of 1c madcap rebuys.
Super cheap, super fun and a nice way to build a micro-roll to prepare for UCOP: Mini.
Every day between 1st-13th January there will be four tournaments with a 1c buyin and €25 gtd between 7pm-8pmGMT.
Three players only required to start the clock on these, and they are fast, unlimited rebuy, NLHE tournaments (15 mins only late reg/rebuy).

The UCOP: Mini is a series of micro poker tournaments that runs between 13th-27th January and the full schedule can be found here.social-media-1200x630
Satellites to the events are running from very small buyins, and we hope your bankroll from the UCOP: WarmUp series gets you through!

The UCOP: Passport is a series of larger buyin tournaments that runs from 27th January- 10th February, with the full schedule available here.
This is the big boy, and satties will run throughout the UCOP: Mini and UCOP: Passport periods.

social-media-1200x630There is a league attached to UCOP: Passport, with some pretty sick prizes on there. Check it out below, and we wish you some serious New Year Rungood during UCOP!

Goodbye 2018!

This time of year is usually pretty exhausting… assuming you’re an adult, obviously! Kids are having a great time right now.

Sometimes I do feel like a bit of a kid, I work in the gaming industry, and not in one of the serious jobs like legal or compliance.
I get to play and market my favourite game in the world… THE POKERS!!

The Microgaming Poker Network (MPN) is settling into its new software followng launch on redbet in September; no-one’s pretending there aren’t bugs, we’re not blind, but I can see the work they are doing, and I’m excited for 2019 in that respect.
Alex Scott is the boss of MPN, and he and his team are very committed, and are pushed and nagged by the various brand managers on the network.

Fireworks at a redbetLIVE event in Malta.

Fireworks at a redbetLIVE event in Malta.

We don’t think we always get it right, but we absolutely know we care about getting it right.

If you want to get involved in the discussion you can go to the MPN thread on 2+2 and talk directly to the head of poker (Alex), the online poker room manager (Peter) and the live poker tour manager (Richard); they all  go on there regularly and answer questions.

MPN don’t hire shills and hide behind them, they take it on the chin themselves.

There’s quite a lot going on on redbet and the network to end 2018 and see in 2019.

On 30th December there will be the €50k gtd BLOWOUT tournament and satellites are already running from 10c.
At the same time the Merry Missions promotion is running, which means you can play to win from the Missions and also qualify for BLOWOUT tournament.

The live tour arm of Microgaming poker will be in Tallinn, Estonia, 24th-27th January.
Tallinn is an amazing city, and I recommend anyone should visit; it’s one of those places where you’ll never be bored if you bust the poker!merry-missions-campaign-1200x628

I can’t go myself, because I’ll be in Blackpool with the BLUFFEurope writers’ team at the APAT Team Championships; we’re trying to better our points score from last year… which was a healthy ZERO POINTS!!
If you are planning Tallinn, make sure to buy some thermals, because in January, it will be a winter wonderland.

As ever, if you have any questions, or just wanna moan about bad beats, you can hit me up directly on Facebook as Kat Redbet or on Twitter as Redbet Kat!

I wish you all a joyful festive season, and hope you get some new year rungood!

redbetLIVE at Dragonara: November 2018

Registration is open, the staff are ready and the clock is due to start in 10 mins!

LET’S GO MALTA POKER!!

Lvl 1 – 25/50 – 11/11 players

Clocked off at 19:32 with 11 players! 30 min levels for Day1 and reg open till level 9 here.

Lvl 2 – 50/100 – 15/16 players

One re-entry and a bit of swearing and we’re into level two!

Lvl 3 – 75/150 – 15/16 players

Nice and relaxed here, and still warm enough to have the roof open a crack in November! Gotta love Malta!

BREAK – 15mins

Sascha and Tomasz lolling

Sascha and Tomasz lolling

We roll on here as our chilled out tourney continues.
Some of us feel old as one of the dealers, David, has “Something About Mary” hair… but he’s too young to get the reference.
He’ll google it on his next break and come back looking horrified.

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 15/16 players

There’s a bit of a rumble happening over the fact we are still using a standard ante on this tournament.

The primary reason for this is that the brand manager and the TD are old skool poker heads and hate change, the second reason is that every other tournament this year in the series has been standard ante and we didn’t want to switch on the last event of the year just because everyone else is!

We’re thinking about whether we make the switch for next year, we’re not “anti” it! #comedygold

Lvl 6 – 150/300/25 – 14/16 playersperfect redbetlive malta dragonara

There are some heated chats going on here, not arguing, just discussions on a wide variety of topics from sports to ham and cheese sandwiches. Most people know eachother here and this is reflected in the atmosphere.

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50 – 13/17 players

One of the players has unfortunate been taken quite ill and has had to go home. Get well soon!
The player’s stack will remain in play and be blinded into the tournament pool.

Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 – 14/18 players

Lvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 15/19 players

Now into the last level of registration for flight 1A.

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 – 14/20 players

_d3_9622Registration for 1A is now closed and there are three more levels of play today before the remaining players bag up.

 Lvl11 – 500/1000/100 – 13/20 players

Lvl12 – 600/1200/100 – 10/20 players

Couple of short stacks clinging on/trying to double up as we creep into the last level of the day.

7 players made it through after a double elimination by Onno Vrijburg on the very last hand as he took out a short stack and Ina Pavlova when his pocket Kings held up against both.

Play resumes on level 13 on Sunday 25th November at 14:00.

Last Minute Chance to Get to Malta Poker Festival

mpfMore than six months ago, I convinced the redbet Casino VIP manager that he wanted to spend some of his budget on poker packages for the Malta Poker Festival, 1st-6th November 2018.

The reasons for this were two-fold:

  • 1) I genuinely believed it would be a nice gift to casino VIP players. Many play poker anyway, and I figured those that didn’t would be up for a nice Mediterranean holiday. Big live poker events are mainly handled by the event organiser, so to reward casino VIPs in this way is cost and effort effective for smaller brands like redbet.
  • 2)I couldn’t afford the sponsorship out of the poker budget alone.

Malta Poker Festival have a pretty good sponsorship deal, and redbet got 30 x packages of €1400 value included in the cost (we add €250 expenses to make the value to poker players €1650).
The agreement was that 15 packages belonged to the redbet poker department and 15 belonged to the redbet casino VIP department.

I’ve had great fun giving these away, and unlike some smaller poker brands, I was not desperately worried about overlay, because I had explained to my boss that we had agreed a marketing cost, and as a result had 15 x “shop window” products to shift.

At the time of writing, of the 30 Malta Poker Festival Packages that redbet bought from the organiser, 13 have been given to redbet Casino VIPs as rewards for being valued customers, 8 have been won in package finals (1 to go -5pmGMT 28th Oct), 4 have been given away in social media promos and 2 poker influencers were invited by me personally (Simon Jones cos he’s good craic and supports our brand, and Donna Morten who supports every poker brand).

Now, if you’re good at maths, you’ll count that as 28 packages… and 28 is a number that is 2 lower than 30; it’s that kinda maths skillz that make my bosses respect me.

The two extra packages are casino VIP ones that they did not get around to giving away, and I had a discussion with the VIP manager as to what he wants to do with them.
He had a couple of ideas, but in the end, I convinced him that the lowstakes poker community would be grateful for them, probably more than casino VIPs might.

He said, “yeah, go on then, offer them up”.

Boom. €3300 donated by the redbet casino team to the redbet poker function.
We probably owe them a beer!

Me working hard at a redbetLIVE event

Me working hard at a redbetLIVE event

I’ve decided to slap on two tournaments to win these packages.
I could have done a freeroll, but decided to give an advantage to players who have tickets already because they’ve been supporting the satellite route.
I have decided on a €1.25 unlimited rebuy tourney and a €6.25 unlimited rebuy tourney because these are the most common outstanding tickets in the system.
The lower value tickets can still be used to win €1.25 or €6.25 tickets for use in these aggro rebuy finals. Both structures will be quite aggressive, but the €6.25 will be less so due to the higher buyin.

They will happen at GMT 6pm (€1.25) 7pm (€6.25) in addition to the final scheduled package satty (€156.25) which starts at 5pm on Sunday 28th Oct.

For anyone who hasn’t seen the satellite route, there are many daily flips to win €1.25/€6.25 tickets and the route starts at 1c. The lower value flips are in place until Oct 25th.

The reason I’m writing this is for transparency about the methods we use to generate members, sales and package value.
I have nothing to hide in the way my company, or my poker network does business, so I may as well tell you about it, huh?

See you at the tables, or hopefully, in Malta very soon!

redbetLIVE at Dragonara, September 2018: Day 1C

Just waiting for 1 player to start the clock!

Lvl 1 – 25/50 – 8/8 players

Let’s GOOOO flight 1C! Currently a slight overlay, but we’re okay lobbing €1.5k in the pot for the locals, you have supported us so well!
There is time to register, but hey,  no rush!

Lvl 2 – 50/100 – 9/9 players

Local celebrity - Stellato

Local celebrity – Stellato

Stellato is already in action. We try to imagine a world without him, but honestly, it’s a dark and empty place.
Malta poker would not be the same without him.

Lvl 3 – 75/150 – 13/13 players

Players are arriving for the last chances to enter September’s redbetLIVE at Dragonara.

BREAK – 15 mins

 Lvl 4 – 100/200 – 13/14 players

We have some of the redbet regs here tonight, and we have swapped Tournament Directors from Fiora to Jeanelle.

We started a little late on this flight, so there are still over three hours of reg left on this tourney, which will close at around 00:45. Play will now finish at around 03:15 due to the late start.

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 15/16 players

We have some strong players battling tonight. We think a few of our regs are in UK for a big tournament at Dusk Till Dawn. Good luck to you all there!

Lvl 6 – 150/300/25 – 15/16 playerspy3a9342

We can’t quite believe it… but we’ve hit the guarantee…??? HOW? The support of the local poker community, that’s how!

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50 – 15/18 players

The gtd has been met, but if you bust, and you’re here, you may as well re-enter, right?

Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 – 14/18 players

Lvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 13/18 players

Last level of entry today. We are having a bit of trying to double up or bust for a rebuy. Konrad Abela crushing souls with Q6 off after jamming his short stack in pre and making a straight with the six. The other players loved it! (Not)

BREAK-15mins

Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 – 12/18 players

Registration is now closed on flight 1c and this event has had 58 entries for a total prize pool of €10440.

Lvl 11 – 500/1000/100 – 11/18 players

Lvl 12 – 600/1200/100 – 9/18 players

As we enter the last level of the day, we are contemplating flirting Stellato out of the tournament for being cheeky to the dealer? Should we?

8 players made it through from flight 1C, the total returning will be 25 for Day 2 at 2pm on Sunday 30th September.

day-2-1c-sm

redbetLIVE at Dragonara, September 2018: Day 1B

Lvl 1 – 25/50 – 6/6players

Started bang on time today with some of the beloved redbet regs who turned up in time to play.
Traffic for this event is a little slow this time around, but we know the local players are busy trying to qualify for the two massive events happening on the Island in a few weeks.

redbet is sponsoring both Battle of Malta and The Malta Poker Festival, and online qualifiers are available now with feeder routes and finals for both complete packages and seat only tickets.
You can check out the full schedule by creating a poker account and looking at the poker lobby. (drop down menu on top left  if you prefer a language other than English).

We’re just gonna sit here and chill for the afternoon. What you gonna do?

Lvl 2 – 50/100 – 10/10 playersTotti Lind redbetLIVE Malta

As expected, the players are arriving slowly for this afternoon.
Feel free to come and join us, this is a nine handed tournament, so there are seats open, you’ll sit down with 300 blinds right now.

Lvl 3 – 75/150 – 14/14 players

The gentle trickle of players continues! Satellite winner Totti Lind has rocked up  to play, we’re just glad he could find the casino!

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 4 – 100/200 – 14/15 players

Jackie Cachia AKA PokerMamma continues to run like a centipede with no legs as she manages to smash into Totti Lind’s AA preflop. We feel here pain, it’s not possible to overcome the #ScandiLuckbox effect. Unlucky PokerMamma, hope the 2nd bullet hits the mark!

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 13/15 players_00a7355

Crusing into level five, the atmosphere is friendly.
Three lads have turned up to see what’s happening. Should we convince them to play, or try to preserve the hope of some overlay?

Lvl 6 – 150/300/50 – 18/21 players

Sudden flurry of players as the afternoon sun begins to dip.
We get it guys, we love poker, but being able to sit on a beach all day in September is pretty good too!

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50 – 14/21 players

Unusual for us to get more players on a Saturday afternoon than a Friday night, but hey, who can really predict the poker action on the Rock Of Poker?

Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 – 13/21 players

Technically still an hour to go of late reg on this flight, but reg for the evening flight opens at 19:30, so all the options are yours!

Lvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 13/21 players

_00a7161We have entered the last level of play for Day 1B.
Given that only 8 players made it through  to Day2 from Day 1A, it’s looking like Day2 might be an easy day for the remaining players…?

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 – 13/21 players

Entry is now closed for flight 1B but open for Flight 1C!

Lvl 11 – 500/1000/50 – 12/21 players

Average stack in this flight is currently 52k which is more than enough to be a contender tomorrow, so we expect to see play tighten up a bit now as people want to get to Day2.
Playing six handed is much more fun anyway, as it’s more likely to be a good move to play a wider range of cards!

Lvl 12 – 600/1200/100  – 11/21 players

Into the last level of play.
We will play down to 10 mins remaining in this level and then we will draw for 3/4/5 final hands.
Our players always seem to pick 5 hands blind from the card selection… we guess they just like playing!

10 players made it through to Day2 and return tomorrow, Sunday 30th at 2pm to continue play:
