redbetLIVE at Malta Poker Festival 2018

maltapokerfestivallogoWe’re SUPER excited to be part of the Malta Poker Festival 2018!

It will be held at Portomaso Casino, Malta, November 1st-6th, 2018 with a main event buyin of €550 (€500k gtd) with a great live tournament team that are massively experienced at running tournaments of this magnitude.

We’re excited, and that excitement is spilling over into our online poker room, which you can check out HERE, where we have gone ahead and set up a satellite route for you starting at just 1c.

The first four levels of this satellite tree are in the flip format, because we know it’s not just the amount of money that keeps low stakes players away from live events, it’s also the time required to grind up to the package final!

In this structure, you can register for these tournaments and let them play whilst you sleep, or work, or play Fortnite, whatever you like!

From the €6.25 buyin stage, the “real” play begins, but the tournament tickets are designed to last for the full duration of the promotion, so you have full flexibility and control.redbetLIVE Malta Poker Festival Banner

A deposit of just €10 will give you 1000 entries to LEVEL1, and the satellites are available now in the lobby for early registration.

Players can join the satellite tree at whatever branch suits their bankroll/spare time and we look forward to meeting you in Malta in November as part of team redbetLIVE!

We will be adding to this promotion as the months continue, but we just wanted to get it started as soon as possible, so watch this space for further developments!

redbetLIVE at Dragonara, May 2018: Day 2

31 players are coming back for Day2, and they are starting to arrive.
There will be four tables, we continue to play 9 handed and the blind levels are 45 minutes for the duration of the day.

Lvl 13 – 800/1600/200/ – 31 players – av. stack 56200

Early bath for Dario Pace Taliania as he got his short stack in pre-flop with AQ versus Mikeal Thomas’s…AQ… and the cards decided to kick Taliana in the balls and throw four clubs out there to give Thomas a flush. Yuck.

Dario Taliana eliminated in 31st place.

Igino Xuereb got caught with his fingers in the pot after a 25bb 3bet squeeze jam with 67dd. The limper had AA and no help for Igino.

True Gentleman - Igino Xuereb

True Gentleman – Igino Xuereb

Igino Xuereb eliminated in 30th place.

Mark Vella was working hard to get his chips in at the end of play last night, he even tried to blag us into dealing more hands! He nearly succeeded, as he’s so very charming.
He got it in with A9 against Alex Henry’s AK pre flop, and the K on the flop proved to be the final nail in the VellaBox.

Mark Vella eliminted in 29th place.

Lvl 14 – 1000/2000/200 – 29/31 players – av stack 66900

F G De Souza eliminated in 28th place.

Larde Victor eliminated in 27th place.

Interesting hand between David Lappin and Knut Rysstad just before the table break.

Unibet Pro Fish- David Lappin

Unibet Pro Fish- David Lappin

With four to a straight on the board by the river, Lappin looked like a man who was happy with his hand until the river flicked poop in his eye. Rysstad put him all in, and sat passively.

“You have some bluffs, but not many,” said Lappin, Rysstad just chuckled.
The clock was called on Lappin, and he gave the impression he was really undecided until the last moment.
He hand was killed by the TD and he turned over trips.
Rysstad flipped Jack high for a bluff, “I had to bluff there,” he said.
“Nice hand,” said Lappin. Did he mean that?

Micheal Edge Eliminated in 26th place.

Marek Jakub Olejnik, one of the top three players from the last redbetLIVE at Dragonara called a 3-bet jam from Alexis Wincen, and probably felt pretty good about life, as he saw Alexis’s 66 and turned over his own sexy looking KK.
KK not looking so good when the river was a six. #ScandiLuckbox

Marek Jakub Olejnik eliminated in 25th place.

Michael Zatonti eliminated in 24th place.

Lvl 15 – 1200/2400/200 – 23 players – av stack 72500

Stian W Danielsen eliminated in 23rd place.

Julien Rouquet eliminated in 22nd place.

Teemu Hietala eliminated in 21st place.

Totti Lind; Delicate Viking

Totti Lind; Delicate Viking

Totti Lind is cold, please send help and cuddles, he may not make it to the next level due to his suffering. He’s a local legend, we don’t want to lose him to frostbite (24 degrees here today).

Fabio Berti eliminated in 20th place.

Our online qualifier, Christopher Aames seems to be crushing souls after coming into Day 2 as one of the shorter stacks.
We did get the impression he is no rookie, and he seems to be proving our instinct right!

Update on Totti Lind’s temperature… his testicles are cold.
Sometimes people think the conversation at poker tables must be too highbrow… not a problem today!!

As a reminder, the UCOP: Full Throttle Poker Tournament Series starts today on redbet poker online. A great introductory series of low-stakes games for new players, or a nice set of screen fillers for experienced players involved in other tourney series today!

Jana Krcova eliminated in 19th place.

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 16 – 1500/3000/300 – 18 players – 91.5k

Neville Grech eliminated in 18th place after he couldn’t get AK to hold against K10 all-in pre-flop.

Gaetano Caruana eliminated in 17th place.

Gaetano Caruana - He's a cool dude.

Gaetano Caruana – He’s a cool dude.

Michael Thomas eliminated in 16th place after running into Totti Lind’s KK, all in preflop with 99.

Alexis Wincen eliminated in 15th place after running 88 into Shane Dempsey’s AA preflop. No Scandi Luck for him this time, and now he has to go home and explain to Ivonne, his lady, why she won’t be getting a new couch!

Arsens Gordejevs eliminated in 14th place after running into Shane Dempsey’s AA.
Nope, not an error, Dempsey’s getting dealt rockets all over the shop… time to make comments about the luck of Irish  yet???
Dempsey now clear chip lead with 13 players remaining, sitting on a stack of over 300k.

Lvl 17 – 2000/4000/400 – 13 players – av stack 134k

Mikael Viggander eliminated in 13th place, passing his stack to… Shane Dempsey. This can now be used as a verb – “You got Dempseyed, mate.”

Alex Henry eliminated in 12th place.

Lvl 18 – 2.5k/5k/500 – 11 players – 159k

_00a7151Domenico Tortomasi had a close shave after getting it all in pre-flop with A7 v A9 held by David Lappin.
Lappin really loved the 7 on the flop.

Tortomasi is fighting back hard as he managed to get Knut Rysstad to double him up with AA.

11 players left, and we will go hand for hand at ten.

Nielsen K Peter got unlucky and lost a race with pocket tens, all in pre flop against Totti Lind’s AK. Losing the crucial races hurts, but Nielsen managed to double the next hand with A-high so he’s got some ammo to come back with.

Nielsen eliminated in 11th place.

Tournament play now hand for hand to the final table.

Laurentiu Gabriel Urda is the short stack and he has just found AK with 7 bigs and peeled a few more chips of Knut Rysstad, whose stack is getting battered by shortstacks!

Knut Rysstad eliminated in 10th place.

Players have had a 30 minute dinner break and now return to battle for ze monies!

Gabriel Sveden

Gabriel Sveden

Everyone is now guaranteed to leave with at least €242, which is better than a pigeon stealing your false teeth.

Shane Dempsey

Shane Dempsey

Shane Dempsey eliminated in 5th place for €835 by Sebastian Rebhan after getting it on the flop with a flush draw against Rebhan’s two pair.

Dempsey made the flush on the turn, but with the Q of clubs which just happened to give Rebhan a full house.

Lvl 23 – 8k/16k/2k – av stack 435k

The last four are in war mode.
Rebhan doubled Lind up once, and Tortomasi isn’t giving an inch.

Markus Larsson eliminated in 4th place for €1148.

Markus Larsson

The grind continues between the top three players.

Sweaty pot for Domenico Tortomasi as he opened from the button and was 3bet by Rebhan to 135k. Lind folded the big and Tortomasi insta shipped all in for 471k.

Rebhan went into “my brain is a calculator beep boop” mode and started banging on about ICM and other pokery things.
In the end, he decided it was a call, and both players flipped AQ.

“Poker is so exciting,” said Lind, we’re pretty sure he was being sarcastic.

A three heart flop looked pretty nice to Rebhan who was holding the Ace of hearts. Tortomasi taught us a couple of Italian expletives, but the dealer, Atilla, managed to dodge any further hearts and the lads chopped the pot.

Totti Lind - 3rd Place

Totti Lind – 3rd Place

Play continues 3 handed.

Lvl 24 – 10k/20k/2k – 3 players – av stack 580k

Lvl 2 – 50/100 – 14/14 playersKat Redbet Dragonara Malta May 2018 redbetLIVE

What is it about Saturday night that means poker players drink more beers?

Lvl 3 – 75/150 – 16/16 players

We’re pleased to see Malta Poker Festival organiser, Ivonne Monteleagre taking a seat in flight 1c.
One of the best things about poker in Malta is that the organisers of events are all seriously passionate poker players.
There will be satellites for the Malta Poker Festival on redbet online poker from 13th May, with micro-feeders starting at just 0.01!!

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 4 – 100/200 – 19/19 players

Couple of entries in the break.
We’ve just had a firework display for the 2nd night in a row! They love their fireworks in Malta, just one of the many, many reasons to come and visit this beautiful country!

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 20/21 players

We are short of the guarantee by one entry! This event has not missed its gtd prizepool in 8 previous events, so tbf, it’s about time we donated a little bit!

_d3_1657Lvl 6 – 150/300/50 – 16/22 players

As the beer flows, the players fall!

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50 – 17/24 players

We realise we should be working… but Ivonne Montealgre has just bust to Seb Rebhan, so we’re gonna drink champagne, dance about and talk about the upcoming Malta Poker Festival in November.
Satellites for this Malta epic event will start on redbet on 13th May, so keep your eyes peeled!

We’ve just lost Antoine Degiorgio AKA “Twanny The Trophy Hunter”, as we’ve just learned his official nickname in the Malta poker community!

Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 – 16/24 players

We’ve just lost Antoine Degiorgio AKA “Twanny The Trophy Hunter”, as we’ve just learned his official nickname in the Malta poker community!

Lvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 15/24 players

Play has tightened up as we come towards the end of the entry period for flight 1c.

BREAK – 15mins_d3_1670

Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 – 15/24 players

Totti Lind lost a decent sized pot with AK v AA on a K high flop. Lind is stacked up enough to sustain it.

Lvl 11 – 500/1000/100 – 14/24 players

Two more levels of play, and the remaining players have certainly got their game faces on.

Lvl 12 – 600/1200/100 – 13/24 players

Last level of play today, players are much quieter than they were 4 hours ago, because busting now would be pretty ugly!

Day 2 Qualifiers from Flight 1C, Day 2 starts at 2pm Sunday 6th May:

redbetLIVE at Dragonara, May 2018: Day 1B

Lvl 1 – 25/50 – 5/5 players

Clock started at 14:01 with five players. The afternoon flight is always slow to start, but we’ve never had less than two tables in an afternoon flight.
The weather is beautiful today, so we can see why people want to squeeze in a bit  of sun before the come along!

Lvl 2 50/100 – 7/7 players

The players are creeping in.
Some computer issues with the media today, but it’s fine, laptop thrown in the sea and we’re going to live on a deserted island where technology cannot find us.

Lvl 3 – 75/150 – 8/8 players

Knut Rysstad redbetLIVE Malta May 2018TD Paul has just had to make what he described as a difficult ruling.
A player stated 700 when the intent was 7000, facing a 1200 bet when the big blind was 100. Paul decreed the raise would be minimum, as the amount stated was not enough for a raise.
We 100% support the ruling here. Paul finds it difficult, because he has great respect for the player in question.
It shows that a good TD would rule against his own mother if it was the right rule, and sometimes it is hard to swallow.

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 4 – 100/200 – 9/9 players

One unfortunate bustout, after all the money went in on the turn after Igino hit trips with Q8 on 6828.
Dario Pace Taliana came from behind with QQ, but the river gifted him the case Queen for a better boat and he scooped a massive pot.

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 9/11 players

Gross hand here between Shane Dempsey and Rudolf Gun after Dempsey opened UTG and it passed to Gun on the button.
Gun raised to 2k and Dario Pace Taliana called from the small blind; Dempsey also called.

The flop was J high, all diamonds, and it checked to Gun who bet 3k.
Taliana passed and Dempsey raised to 7.5k. Gun asked how much Dempsey was playing and when the answer came 20k, Gun raised all in.
Dempsey snapped it and turned over KJ with the Kd.

Lina Teuma and Rudolf Gun

Lina Teuma and Rudolf Gun

Gun flipped AJ with the Ace of diamonds… “I’m in bad shape here” said Dempsey… no sh*t, dood!

90% equity wasn’t enough for Gun as the turn showed itself as the King of clubs and the dealer couldn’t find a cheeky diamond on the river.
Gun took it well, a mere moment of poker pain flickering across his face before he regained composure.

Gun had Dempsey well covered, so we continue 9 handed.

Lvl 6 – 150/300/25 – 9/11 players

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50

Very relaxed vibe here as we cruise into the last 3 levels of entry for flight 1b.
Flight 1c starts at 19:30.

Dario Pace Taliana

Dario Pace Taliana

Lvl  8 – 250/500/50 – 9/11 players

Taliana is back to starting stack, but, in his words “that’s okay, cos I gave them to Jackie”.
Such a friendly game!

Lvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 9/12 players

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 – 9/12 players

Last three levels of entry for day 1b and Day 1c is is about to start with players already registered.
You can join 1b with 35 bigs  or Day 1c with 600 bigs, your call.
Or do the former, followed by the latter, the choices are endless.

Lvl 11 – 500/1000/100 – 9/12 players

9 players hanging on now… will they all make it to Day 2?

Lvl 12 – 600/1200/100 – 7/12 players

No, they won’t.
Down to 7 in this flight as we enter the last level of Day 1.
Flight 1C is well under way with 16 players seated.

Day 2 starts 2pm Sunday 6th May

redbetLIVE at Dragonara May 2018: Day 1A

Getting ready for the off here! Players coming in and the clock will start in ten minutes at 19:30.

Lvl  1 – 25/50 – 16/16 players

BOOM! Clock started at 19:35 with 16 players.
The aircon is on, because the sun is out. What are your thoughts on aircon at poker tournaments? Should people just wear jumpers. This is the important stuff, people.

Joe Hall, redbet’s photographer, has just arrived and is already snapping away. Watch this space for some more beautiful photos of your favourite local fish!

Lvl 2 – 50/100 – 22/22 players

We’re at three tables now because redbetLIVE poker tournaments all play 9-handed for player comfort.
We also think that the less people at the table, the more hands people get to play, but in our experience recreational players are not so keen on 6-max.
What do you reckon? Is shorthanded poker better, or do you prefer more players?

Lvl 3 – 75/150 – 22/22 players

Structure is too deep for much movement at this point!

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 4 – 100/200 – 22/21 players

Scandi Luckbox Luck Is Back In the Box

Scandi Luckbox Luck Is Back In the Box

Local legend, Totti Lind, has busto his first bullet; he did it deliberately… so he says.

Another unfortunate bust out in the shape of Saviour Spiteri, a sad loss to the tournament because he is so much fun!
At least he won his ticket for €25 in yesterday’s satellite! That’s the way to do it, Mr Spiteri!

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 –  20/22 players

Late reg is open here until 00:30 if you want to join us tonight.

We are now on strike as our local fashionista, Knut “Ginger Bond” Rysstad  has turned up in a football shirt, this is very disappointing to us, as we love a snappy dresser here at redbetLIVE.

Lvl 6 – 150/300/50 – 20/22 players

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50 – 20/22 players

Nice and chilled here, and we’ve been treated to a fireworks display from one of the hotels across the bay.
Quite the spectacle!fireworks redbetLIVE Malta May 2018

Two cash games open here (seats available) and late reg on the €200 buyin tournament until 00:30.

Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 –  20/22 players

Not much movement here, although there is a lot of aggressive play… and a fair bit of fishy fishing. Deep stacks and slow blinds let everyone play their own game, whatever that may be!

Lvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 17/22 players

Mass exodus in lvl 8!

Entering the last level of play before registration closes.

Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 – 16/22 players

Entries now closed.
There are three more levels of play today.

poker dealer redbetLIVE Malta May 2018This is the tough part of the night, where most people, who have been at work all day start to find sleep calling them. At least the coffees are free!
Keep at it folks, only one more level after this one!

Lvl 12 – 600/1200/100 – 14/22

Hang on for one more level, players, and make it back for Day2 that starts at 2pm on Sunday 6th May.

DAY 1A Qualifiers:

redbetLIVE at Dragonara, Malta: March 2018 Day 2

Lvl 13 – 800/1600/100 – 31 players – av stack 79335

31 players have rocked up for Day 2 of this event and there’s a cheeky little €4.4k for the winner, so it’ll be a mildly profitable Sunday for somebody!

The sun is shining, the sea is blue. Let’s do this.

_00a1304First elimination of the day is Phil Pearson after opened late positon with QJs, the button called.
They went heads up to a QJ9 flop, Pearson checks and Ericksson bet 8k and Pearson calls. Turn was a 9.
Pearson leads the turn of 13k and was called. The river showed as a six and Pearson check calls Ericksson’s river shove and then cuddled the rail because Ericksson had pocket sixes and had rivered a boat.

Ciao Phil, we still luv ya.

Patrik Nilsson eliminated in 30th place.

Ellie Biessek eliminated in 29th place.

Alexis Wincen eliminated in 28th place.

Claudio Di Bella eliminated in 27th place

Trond Bergland eliminated in 26th place.

Lvl 14 – 1000/2000/200 – 25 players – average stack 98400

The early elimination are happening fast, as the short stacks make their move and sometimes fail._d3_1737

One player we can see taking names and making laws early on is Jackie Cachia. She looks like she’ll give you a hug, and she probably will, but dayyyyym she’ll have your stack off you straight afterwards!

Markus Larsson eliminated in 25th place.

Things are slowing down here, and the average stack is around 50 big blinds, so there is not too much pressure from the blind structure at this stage.

Lvl 15 – 1200/2400/200 – 24 players – av stack 102500

Mark Anthony Vella eliminated in 24th place.

Durepaire Julien eliminated in 23rd place.

Dirk Oetzmann eliminated in 22nd place.

BREAK – 15 mins

_d3_1790Lvl 16 – 1500/3000/300 – 21 players – 117000

The balcony at Dragonara is lovely in the poker tournament breaks, catch a few rays before heading back to the table!

Day 2 at these events have long playing sessions of 2hrs 15 mins between breaks, which can be tough on the brain, so it’s nice to be able to pop outside for a few minutes and clear the dust!

Konrad Abela eliminated in 21st place.

Stian W Danielsen eliminated inn 20th place.

Mickael Thomas eliminated in 19th place.

Lvl 17 – 2000/4000/400 – 18 players – av stack 137k

Kristoff Van Der Stichel eliminated in 18th place._00a1462

Raphael Toledo eliminated in 17th place.

Anna Colley eliminated in 16th place.

Guilio Spampinato eliminated in 15th place.

Lvl 18 – 2500/5000/500 – 14 players – av stack 189k

Igino Xuereb eliminated in 14th place. He told us this is his favourite regular tourney in Malta because he can chill out and not worry about the blinds being too aggressive.

Lina Teuma eliminated in 13th place.

prizesIt’s getting serious now as 9 players get paid. The players are working hard, but they will be rewarded with a 30 min dinner break at the end of this level,  so at least they can grab some food and regroup their mental faculties, because it’s getting very close to the 9 handed final table and the bubble.

The total prize pool is €14760.

Kamil Suwata eliminated in 12th place

BREAK – 30 mins

Chip counts on the dinner break:

Lvl 19 – 3k/6k/500 – 11 players – av stack 224k

The game is toughening up now, with just two more eliminations until the final table and the dollar.

The €30 buyin side event has just started with the €1000 gtd prizepool. 11 players are seated!

Charlie Eriksson eliminated in 11th place.

We are now on the final table and money bubble.

_00a1623The bubble has burst and it was Jackie Cachia after she couldn’t manage to win a flip against Michael Edge. Her sixes were slapped by the A high flop and it never got any better. She’s running pretty bad at the moment, fingers crossed it ends soon, Poker Mamma!

All remaining players are now in the money and guaranteed at least €295.

Lvl 20 – 4k/8k/500 –  9 players – av stack 273k – next payout €295

Knut Rysstad is the runaway chip leader and he’s crushing souls. He and Michael Edge have been on the same table for hours and bickering with chips all afternoon.

Knut Rysstad

Knut Rysstad

They’ve swapped seats in the final draw, meaning Edge now has position on Rysstad, but Rysstad’s stack is intimidating enough without him making clicky oop preflop 4bets and monster bluffing turns and showing his A highs.

All eight other players are having an ICM nightmare right now. Good luck folks, honestly, rather you than me at this point!

Mark Thorne made a charge at Rysstad’s stack, calling all-in preflop f0r 150k to flip with AQ against Rysstad’s pocket Jacks, and he managed to dent the paintwork when the river pinged out a queen, jacking Rysstad’s pair into the muck.

Kenneth Ciantar eliminated in 9th place for €295.

Tomass Pudar eliminated in 8th place for €295.

Lvl 21 – 5k/10k/1k – 7 players – av stack 351k

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 22 – 6k/12k/1k – 6 players – av stack 410k

Francesco Castellamn eliminated just before the break by Marek Olejnik and takes home €590.

Dieter Falzon has just peeled a cheeky double up from Michael Edge when his AK all in short stack shove pre flop  held against QJ.

Mark Thorne eliminated in 6th place for €886.

_00a1660Thomas Brezinskfish is having the roller coaster ride of craziness as he dropped to less than 2 big blinds after complicated pre-flop action got him allin aipf with AK against fellow Pole, Marek Olejnik holding KK.
Some how, The Brezinskfish has somehow ducked and dodged and sneaked his way back to 250k. He said “I need to invoke the power of the luckbox” and did a very silly dance. Maybe this is the science behind winning at poker.

Dieter Falzon eliminated in 5th place for €1328. If it wasn’t bad enough that he lost with KK all in pre flop after the chip leader, still Knut Rysstad, found AA behind him, poor old Dieter had to be subjected to more dancing from The Brezinskfish.
It’s enough to ensure tilt for life.

Thomas Brezinskfish has just been eliminated by Knut Rysstad after finding a spot pre with A9 and getting called by QQ. Thomas takes home €1771.

Lvl 23 – 8k/16k/2k  –  3 players – av stack 820k

Marek Olejnik is currently the short stack and is doing a good job of keeping his head down, the two larger stacks are desperate to get him, but he is putting up a fight!

Marek Olejnik

Marek Olejnik

Olejnik has just doubled with Aces… this game is BACK on three handed.

The players took a short break and have come back ready for action.

“No more friendly,” says Knut Rysstad, as he strokes his ‘50% of the chips in play’ stack.

Lvl 24 – 10k/20k/2k – 3 players

The three remaining players are having quite a lot of banter, and the atmosphere is good, but they are clearly keen to get eachother’s chips.
Rysstad is still the chipleader, but he can’t seem to get the custom he needs as he’s found himself with two walks with pocket Aces!

Lvl 25 – 15k/30k/3k – 3 players

The game continues, and to give you an idea of the vibe, Olejnik doubled up against Rysstad and Edge immediately said “F**king hell, Marek, when will you go away?” and everybody laughed, including Marek!

And we have a winner!

In short succession, Rysstad eliminated Michael Edge when his Q9 out ran Edge’s A7 and then Marek Olejnik after Olejnik 3bet shoved KQ preflop and Rysstad called with A3 and held for the trophy and the €4.4k top prize.

The next event at Dragonara is 4th-6th May 2018, see ya there!

redbetLIVE at Dragonara, Malta: March 2018 Day 1C

Lvl 1 – 25/50 – 5/5 players

This event is on track to be our biggest Malta local event ever, with 62 players registered in flights 1A and 1B and 4.5 hours of registration to go on flight 1C, we are feeling VERY excited!

Lvl 2 – 50/100 – 14/14 players

_d3_1770The relaxed vibe of the afternoon flight is continuing into the evening. The end of flight 1B and the beginning of flight 1C are playing together in perfect harmony. We have some of Malta’s finest fishes and sharks in this game, and we are very happy about it.

 Lvl 3 – 75/150 – 15/15 players

The entries gently roll in as the night progresses. Day 2 is gonna be a good game to play!

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 4 – 100/200 – 18/19 players

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 18/19 players

We have a new TD for the evening flight as everybody’s favourite, Jeanelle Brincat has finally gone home for the day after bringing her particular brand of brilliance to the event.
It’s nice and peaceful here, and the atmosphere is friendly, but people are taking the poker seriously.

Lvl 6 – 150/300/25 – 16/20 players_d3_1849

Speed of action is picking up a little bit, and if we get bored, then Stellato’s here, and he’s always good for the craic!

BREAK – 15mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50 – 13/20 players

People are playing very seriously tonight, it’s very different from last night.

Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 – 13/20 players

Lvl 9 – 300/600/100 – 12/20 players

This is now the last level of entry to flight 1C.

BREAK – 15mins

 Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 – 11/20 players

Just 90 mins of play left here today before players make it through to Day 2.
The redbetLIVE media team just lost a bet with the TD about a rule in the 2017 TDA rules. We are mortified and may never show our faces in public again. Oh the shame.

_d3_1797Lvl 11 – 500/1000/100 – 10/20 players

This event has attracted 82 entries and created a total prize pool of €14760!

Who needs a guarantee when you have a community? Well done everyone!!

Lvl 12 – 600/1200/100 – 7/20 players

Six players made it through to Day 2 from Day 1C.
Day 2 starts Sunday 4th March at 14:00.

redbetLIVE at Dragonara, Malta: March 2018 Day 1B

Clock will start slightly late as we are in Malta afternoon mode and players are slow to arrive. We have three registered and the clock starts with 5.

 Lvl 1 – 25/50 – 8/8 players

Clock started at 14:16 with 8 players. The afternoon flight is always the quietest, and tends to be the most hardcore poker play as well.

Lvl 2 – 50/100 – 13/13 players

_00a1364As predicted, the players are starting to wake up!
There is an ongoing argument here about the weather. Some people are hot, some people are cold, some people think winter is coming and some people watch too much Game Of Thrones.

Lvl 3 – 75/150 – 15/15 players

Very relaxed here, and no-one has been eliminated. This flight has a very different vibe from last night, it may be because there is less beer being drunk right now… hmmm… science.

BREAK – 15 mins

Long time media professional of the poker industry, Dirk Oetzman has just proudly informed us he’s made it to the first break. You did start with 600 big blinds, Dirk, but we’re glad your years of experience have helped you through the first 90 mins of play!

Lvl 4 – 100/200 – 15/15 players

Predictably, the conversation  in the breaks keep swinging back to the Battle of Malta/Malta Poker Festival saga. Poker players do love a bit of drama, don’t they?

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 15/16 players_00a1446

The antes have kicked in and we have had the first re-entry of the day. Very relaxed here, Dragonara card room always seems so calm when Jeanelle Brincat is in charge.

Lvl 6 150/300/25 – 14/17 players

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50 – 14/19 players

 Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 – 14/19 players

Into the last two levels for entry on flight 1B, and just as 1B closes, 1C will open! You can register for this tournament any time between now and midnight.

_d3_1713Lvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 15/20 players

Last level of entry for flight 1B. There are a few players knocking about and they are not sure whether to enter late into 1B or wait 30 minutes until 1C starts.

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 – 14/20 players

Lvl 11 – 500/1000/100 – 13/20 players

Some players are saying that they are ready for bed, whilst others are planning to hit Party Town Paceville after they’ve bagged up their chips. Game on!

Lvl 12 – 600/1200/100 – 11/20 players

Into the final level of play for the guys in Day 1B. The remaining eleven just have to survive 30 more minutes of play and they will be back tomorrow at 14:00 to carry on playing Day 2.

10 players made it through from Day 1B:

redbetLIVE at Dragonara, Malta: March 2018 Day 1A

Lvl 1 – 25/50 – 12 players

Clock started at 19:30 and 12 players are seated already!

Lvl 2 – 50/100 – 19/20 players

_00a3975In last night’s live satellite five seats for the event were created, and so there are a few entries that have won their place for a fraction of the price. One particularly special player won two seats, one online and one live, that special player has already re-entered, but hey, his seats were cheaper than normal, so why not gamble, eh?

Lvl 3 75/150 – 24/27 players

Few players got that Friday feeling, casually peeling through 300 blinds, and why not?
We have three busy tables here, but there’s still plenty of room for you! No rush though, late reg is open till around quarter past midnight and the structure is super chilled, so finish what you’re doing and we’ll see you later!

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 4 – 100/200 – 26/30 players

Lvl 5 – 100/200/25 – 27/31 players

Nice chilled vibe here, what are you doing with your Friday?

Lvl 6 – 150/300/25 – 25/33 players

The entry numbers are creeping upwards and Paul Kelly, the TD is actually having to work. He hates it, come down and make him work harder.

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 7 – 200/400/50 – 26/36 players

Lvl 8 – 250/500/50 – 28/40 players

Plenty entries for today’s flight, with one around an hour to go until registration closes.

Lvl 9 – 300/600/50 – 28/40 players

Kat Redbet and Ivonne Monteleagre

Kat Redbet and Ivonne Monteleagre

And we slip effortlessly into the last level of entry for Day 1A.
The poker room is turning a bit Drag Show Dressing Room as Max Rabanovitch and Niklas Nyman throw very camp shade at eachother across the cardroom… handbags at the ready, gentlemen!

BREAK – 15 mins

Lvl 10 – 400/800/100 – 22/42 players

Entries are now closed for this flight and players have three more levels of play before the end of Day 1A.

Lvl 11 – 500/1000/100 – 21/42 players

There is some conflict in the cardroom over the optimal music choices. Some of the young ones want John Denver and those of us over thirty are arguing for drum and bass; kids of today have no stamina.

Lvl 12 – 600/1200 – 19/42 players

Last level of play has begun, the cardroom always feels a bit more serious in this last level, presumably because the players can see the end of the road and know that Day 2 is close!
It’s been super fun today, with a lot of laughing and a lot of banter; tomorrow has two flights, Day 1B is at 14:00 and Day 1C at 19:30 with Day 2 on Sunday at 14:00.

15 players made it through from Day 1A:
